Features
Located in the picturesque and friendly village of Chalfont St Peter, often described as the Gateway to the Chiltern Hills, an area of natural beauty; famous for stunning countryside, chalk streams and breathtaking woodlands, Austenmead offers sheltered housing for residents wishing to remain independent but have support 24 hours a day with live-in House Managers and an alarm system.
Situated in extensive, beautifully landscaped gardens, Austenmead is a beautiful and charming detached house built in 1900. It was converted into a sheltered house in 1971 and in 1994, was extensively refurbished; a programme of minor refurbishment is ongoing.
We have 11 generously sized rooms, all with en-suite facilities. Four of our rooms are suites, which have a separate lounge and bedroom and would accommodate couples or siblings who wish to live together. We are able to provide furniture for trial stays or respite and can provide help, where possible, for residents who would like furniture for a long-term basis. However we do encourage residents to bring their own furniture, so you can make yourself feel completely at home. To ease your worries further, rental fees include all utilities, food, entertainment, three meals a day, utility bills, alarm system, council tax, internet access and laundry. Please note that phone rental and call costs are not included in the price.
Residents have the benefit of their own front door, allowing you to come and go as you please, whilst getting all of the benefits of being part of a caring community within the house. While away the hours, enjoying the peace and quiet in the lovely surroundings of the garden, or do a little gardening of your own in one of our recently purchased raised flowerbeds, spend time getting to know other residents over shared meals, where we all come together, or catch up with a coffee in the comfy lounge.
Ideally located on the corner of Austenwood Common, we’re a short drive, taxi journey or bus ride away from Chalfont St Peter and Gerrards Cross. Within the community, you will find plenty to keep you busy including Chalfont St Peter Cricket Club, Gerrards Cross Bowling Club, Gerrards Cross Lawn Tennis Club, and a number of churches and restaurants. Other amenities include a number of art/craft shops offering speciality gifts, museums, parks and several manor houses. In Gerrards Cross, you’ll discover an excellent, diverse and varied choice of restaurants, as well as a selection of supermarkets and convenience stores.
Austenmead is managed by the Abbeyfield Chalfonts Society.
