Our location
Situated in the historic market town of Reigate, nestled at the foot of the North Downs, Abbeyfield House offers sheltered housing for older people. Placing the highest importance on creating a warm, home from home environment where residents are supported to remain as independent as possible.
Abbeyfield House is in a great location, with excellent bus and train links. The local area offers a range of independent shops, which include antiques, crafts, clothing boutiques, furniture shops and giftware. You'll also find lots of great restaurants and amenities such as the library and community centre, as well as The Castle Grounds and Priory Park, offering open space, woodland with a children's play area and cafe which you can enjoy.
Our home
Abbeyfield House is a large Victorian house which, over time, has been renovated and now comprises of 10 one bedroom units ranging from single rooms with en-suite toilet, single rooms with en-suite shower, flats that are suitable for couples and contain two rooms, a kitchen and en-suite shower and toilet, and the Amos Suite.
The Amos Suite is our most recent addition and offers open plan living, with a modern kitchen area, separate bedroom and en-suite facilities. With it’s own front door and patio doors which provide access to the garden at the rear of the house.
Communal spaces
Forming friendships with other residents is easy, we have a number of places where you can meet and socialise and get to know each other including our beautiful garden with a large heated summer house and outdoor seating. Our light and airy lounge, garden room or dining room, where traditional home cooked meals are served at lunchtime, provide the perfect places to catch up or meet with your family and friends.
The house lounge has recently been refurbished to create a calm, quiet place where residents can spend time with guests and spend time socialising with each other.
Abbeyfield House also benefits from the wonderful new garden room, which was completed in 2022. It is a space where residents can meet for coffee together, and where the house is able to celebrate special events and occasions with friends and family.
The house also has a mobility scooter shed.
Our food
Residents play an integral role in shaping their dining experience, actively engaging with the House Manager to plan the menu. Each day we provide residents with a delightful homemade lunch and a light evening tea, with residents providing their own breakfast. Two meals are provided daily, with the exception of Sunday, when a traditional Sunday lunch is served.
Activities and events
There's plenty to keep residents entertained in house too; with a detailed and varied activities schedule.
Activities at the house include armchair aerobics, visits from the local nursery children to play games or make crafts, crafting activities like origami, knitting and decoration making, as well as gardening and seedling planting.
Abbeyfield Reigate has a committed group of volunteers and Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme students who help to enhance the life of residents; providing transport and hands-on assistance for shopping trips to the local supermarket in Reigate town centre, regular trips out, quiz nights, scrabble nights and more.
We like to encourage potential residents to visit more than once to spend time with our other residents, either at a coffee morning, a lunch, or as part of a trial stay.
We look forward to welcoming you to our home soon.
This house is managed by the Abbeyfield Reigate Society.

Testimonials
“My mother moved to Abbeyfield Reigate approximately 6 months ago and life couldn't be better for her. So many worries have been taken off her shoulders and mine. No running a household, no bills to worry about as all are included in her rent. Her accommodation is lovely, she has lunch and tea made for her and the opportunity to socialise and outings with a carer provided. The hairdresser, chiropodist and carer for a shower all visit. More than this the staff are very attentive without encroaching on my mother's very independent spirit. I cannot recommend Abbeyfield Reigate more highly.”
Daughter of resident
“My mother has been living at Abbeyfield for a few years now. I cannot praise the staff and volunteers enough for their wonderful caring and supportive attitude towards her. She has loved living in this delightful friendly house and particularly enjoys the weekly shopping trips and various activities. She has comfortable accommodation with an en-suite shower room. She doesn't need to worry about bills or cooking meals. I highly recommend this accommodation for elderly people who would like assisted living in a comfortable house in a pleasant road, with a beautiful garden.”
Resident's relative
