Our location
Nestled in the scenic Chiltern Hills, surrounded by stunning greenbelt countryside, Pratt House is a care home situated on the outskirts of the vibrant market town of Amersham.
Our home
Set in its own beautiful grounds, in a quiet residential location, Pratt House has 29 en-suite rooms, comprising of 26 rooms with a shower, toilet and sink and three with a toilet and sink. Many of our rooms overlook our attractive garden and surrounding fields. Some of our rooms are able to accommodate couples who wish to remain together. We also have an assisted bath where residents can bathe comfortably and safely.
Although we can provide furniture, we encourage you to bring your own furniture and personal items from home to customise your room and make it feel like home from the day you move in.
We have CCTV installed on site to provide an added layer of security and ensure the safety and wellbeing of our residents, staff and visitors.
Communal spaces
Completing our home is a communal lounge, salon and communal dining room where residents can enjoy three meals a day prepared by our fantastic catering team. If you have any specific dietary requirements our team will adapt menus to suit and liaise with you to make sure there is always something on the menu which you will love. Take a look at the range of delicious meals on our new menu.
We also have a spacious garden filled with beautiful flowers and ample seating so you can enjoy the fresh air and relax in the outdoors whilst catching up with family and friends. Our summer house arrived in 2021, a tranquil oasis in our garden, perfect for a spot of afternoon tea.
Support
At Abbeyfield we have extensive experience providing care and understand it can be a big change to move into a care home. That’s why we tailor our support to each individual, finding out what they enjoy and what approach to care works for them. This means we can continuously adapt our care plans if your needs change over time and ensure all of our residents continue to live meaningful and fulfilling lives. Our dedicated team of staff provide 24-hour care and many of our staff have been here for over 20 years meaning you get continuity of care and support.
Being part of the community is an important value for Abbeyfield and we have established excellent relationships with pre-schools, churches, GPs and district nurses.
Activities and events
At Pratt House we offer a varied activity schedule 7 days a week, a daily exercise class and other activities tailored to the likes and dislikes of our residents, including one to one time for those who prefer not to join in.

Talk to us about respite stays
We’re proud to offer respite stays at Pratt House, a short-stay that can be planned ahead, or in the case of an emergency, last-minute. Suitable for individuals seeking support following post-operative or hospital care, or whilst their regular caregiver takes a break, respite care can also be used as a way of introducing long-term residential care to a loved one.
At Pratt House our respite stays include:

- Nutritious meals served daily (dietary requirements can be catered for)
- Housekeeping and linen service

Meet the team
Alice started in 2012 as a carer, working towards Team Leader, Head of Care and then Operations Manager in 2018. Residents are my passion and I look forward to many further years.

Leah has worked at Pratt since August 2017 where she quickly progressed from Care Assistant to Deputy Manager. She enjoys a varied role building relationships with residents, relatives and staff. Leah is sympathetic and compassionate to the needs of all residents at Pratt House.

Joanna worked at Pratt House as a carer, then Care Team Leader. She then spent a couple of years exploring domiciliary care before returning to Pratt House as Head of Care in April 2023. Joanna manages the majority of the care planning in the home and supervises care staff to deliver the best quality care in the home.

Has been at Pratt House since 2014 starting as General Assistant and then moving on to Maintenance Operative in 2018. He is here to assist with all maintenance issues and to ensure Health and Safety Compliance throughout.
