Situated in the heart of Dagenham, in a quiet residential neighbourhood, George Brooker House is purpose-built residential care home providing residential care, dementia care, day care, short-term and respite care. We’re located close to the local high street which has a selection of cafes, shops and a fabulous library.
George Brooker House is part of The East London Extra Care Society who have been providing care to the local community in Dagenham, Essex for the past 26 years. As a non-profitable charity all of our income is reinvested back into our home and spent improving the quality of care given to our residents.
Our home has 45 rooms, with a mixture of en-suite rooms and rooms with vanity units. We have six bathrooms with assisted baths and separate toilet with staff call buttons and support rails in each facility for resident’s safety.
We pride ourselves on our kind and caring staff who have a real affinity for older people, and strongly believe in supporting their independence and freedom of choice, and nurturing their physical, emotional and spiritual well being. All of our staff have up to date training and specialised dementia care training, provide the residents with a variety of activities and many of them are long serving and really spend time getting to know each resident.
Our house has three comfortable communal areas where residents can spend time with their family and friends and our dining room on the first floor can be used for hosting special celebratory events. We also have some special features in the house including bedroom corridors all named and decorated after flowers, memorabilia cabinets and feature walls from Hollywood’s Golden Age, and a beautiful hand-painted window. We also have a newly built sensory room for residents to use.
Our attractive and well maintained garden overlooks the beautiful Goresbrook Park, and is complete with rose garden, rockery and water feature - the perfect place to spend time relaxing in the sunshine. Our garden also has a greenhouse where residents who are interested in gardening can potter and during the summer, we often serve meals outside in the patio area; a beautiful place where you can join fellow residents and enjoy conversation and companionship over delicious home cooked food.
George Brooker House is managed by Abbeyfield East London Extra Care Society.
