Just like in a family home the meals are served in the dining room which is a lovely time for residents and staff to socialise. In between meals, drinks and snacks are provided. A kitchenette is also located on both floors in which residents can use for themselves or their guests during normal times.
We have a 5 star rating for Environmental Health and an Excellent rating with HCPA’s impartial feedback survey.
Respite stays
When residents come and stay with us, their carers can relax and have peace of mind knowing that their loved one is safe. Our respite stays include 24 hour care, home cooked meals and the use of all our facilities. We understand that everyone is different so personal preferences are always built into our packages.
Respite and short term stays also help build a connection between our residents, their families and our home; this can be beneficial should a more permanent stay become necessary in the future.

Testimonials
“I have been a resident in Friars Mead for 2 months, after living alone in my own bungalow. I settled in immediately and have received nothing but help, kindness and immediate response from management, carers and maintenance staff. A very happy care home.”
Resident at Friars Mead
“In our hour of need, the manager provided very caring and pragmatic options for the family to consider. It has been very much appreciated. I have no hesitation in recommending people to discuss care options with the home.”
Resident at Friars Mead
“I am now very happy and settled here. Everyone is kind and good.”
Resident at Friars Mead
“It has been an extremely unusual year, however, my father and all the residents were kept healthy and safe. Life was very difficult for my father as he often felt isolated as he is a very social person. A pod was set up for visitors as soon as allowed, and it is great that he is allowed out and about again. Thank you to all the staff at Friars Mead for keeping him safe.”
Family member of a resident
“Staff and home very warm and welcoming. My mother-in-law is very happy and enjoys the interaction and help from staff, and from day one has felt very much at home at Friars Mead.”
Relative of resident
“The staff are personable, friendly and caring. My mother is very happy, well cared for, in this small, friendly environment.”
