Features
Nestled in the heart of the thriving village of Ballachulish, famous for once being the slate capital of Scotland, Abbeyfield House is set in a dramatic landscape of stunning scenery with views of the majestic mountains of Glencoe in the Scottish Highlands.
Abbeyfield House has a rating of excellent and grade 5/6 by the Scottish Care Inspectorate, showing the level of care we provide. We offer nursing care and residential care delivered by an excellent team that are expertly trained to provide support for those living with dementia. Additionally, we provide a day care service and lunch club which is open to the wider community.
Opened in 2003, the Integrated care facility was built to replace the previous building to provide facilities that meet the modern standards of care, with extensions added in 2013 and 2022. We have 37 self-contained, fully furnished, modern en-suite bedrooms, with many of the rooms opening onto our beautiful communal garden spaces, and provide a mixture of residential and nursing care depending on your needs. We also work in partnership with NHS Highland providing a further two bedrooms that are available for the provisions of intermediate care.
Our two communal lounges are the perfect places to get to know other residents over a cup of tea, spend a quiet moment or read a book in our smaller lounge, or while away the hours in our beautiful large and accessible garden area complete with our vintage garden tea room, the perfect place for catching up with family and friends.
Finding things to do in Ballachulish is easy, today the village sits on the shore of Loch Leven and is known for being picturesque, charming and peaceful with an extensive range of activities available in the area including golf, mountain and forest trails, fishing and many more. Close to the house you’ll find a restaurant and bar, Jubilee Park and a number of churches.
Activities
We have a wonderful full time activities coordinator who puts on a range of activities for groups and individuals so there is always something to keep you entertained in the house. We organise personalised outings for residents, letting them tell us interesting places they would like to visit, activities, or events they would like to attend. Our most anticipated yearly events include our annual summer sports event and our Christmas family day, perfect events for your friends and family. Our residents are the most important aspect of our house, so we always give them a special day on their birthdays.
This house is managed by Abbeyfield Ballachulish Society.
