Features
Abbeyfield House opened in 1992 as a purpose-built home for elderly people, recently refubished in 2022, our home offers 40 rooms, providing residential and dementia care. We are set in the Ribble Valley, on the outskirts of Clitheroe close to the castle, parks, high street shops and local conveniences. We have bus links to the town, Preston, Blackburn and Skipton which is perfect if you fancy shopping further afield.
We aim to create a comfortable and stimulating atmosphere where residents’ quality of life is paramount and their individual needs are catered for with sensitivity and compassion, with members of staff always on hand to offer assistance and advice. Our Manager, Andrea Smith is supported by a Deputy Manager and Care Team Leaders who are in turn supported by qualified care and domestic staff whose main aim is to make Abbeyfield House a comfortable and caring home. All bedrooms are spacious and en suite. They are furnished to a high standard. Residents are very welcome to bring their own furniture and keepsakes as well as a television. A full laundry service is also provided.
Residents are encouraged to maintain their independence wherever possible but where the need for care requires staff to help them and we preserve their dignity at all times. We provide a high standard of personal 24-hour care including assistance with mobility, dressing, bathing, feeding, affording welfare and security and control of prescribed medications. Our care plans are devised in full consultation with residents and are Person Centred.
Although we prioritise the physical needs of our residents, we also recognise the importance of regular entertainment and activities to make life as stimulating and varied as individual wishes. We have three comfortable lounges, two with televisions, and if the weather is nice there is a garden area with raised flower beds and a patio area with easy access.
A full catering service is provided, and the cooks ensures that meals are varied and nutritious. Residents can have their meals in our Dining Room or in their rooms.
For an extra charge we can arrange personal services such as hairdressing, nail cutting, assisted bathing/shower and eye tests to be carried out in the comfort of Abbeyfield House. We also work closely with local churches, arranging their services as required. Relatives and friends are always welcome to visit and work with us to provide the best possible care.
