About Kirkcaldy Society
Kirkcaldy Society started in 1970 as an Abbeyfield sheltered house, one of four Abbeyfield societies then operating in Fife, but the Board soon identified the growing need for the provision of full 24 hour care.
Some years later they planned and built an extension to the original Victorian house to create a 25 bed extra care home. The extension was opened in 1985 by the society’s patron HRH Prince Charles.
Our aim and ethos
Our aim is to provide a continuation of care for those who require any or all our services at some point in their lives. Older people who use the outreach service and day care facilities will have contact and a sense of being part of Abbeyfield. If residential care is later required, an individual can feel that they are moving forward with people they know.
Our ethos is to enable people to live their lives to the full by giving the level of support they need. When people come to stay we continue to care for them as their needs change. Alzheimer’s and dementia sufferers are also supported as their conditions develop.
