The Abbeyfield Barnard Castle Society Limited is a charity that provides 'home from home' sheltered accommodation for older people.
We were established in 1967 as a non-profit making company and are registered as a charity with the Charity Commission. We provide older people with their own homes within the security and companionship of small sheltered households.
Our sheltered home, Abbeyfield House, on the corner of Galgate and Montalbo Road, is located centrally to local amenities and was previously a Doctor’s home and surgery. Built in 1891, Abbeyfield House consists of three ground floor flats and two rooms with en-suite kitchen and shower room. One first floor double flat, one large en-suite room and one small en-suite room. One second floor large double flat. All rooms accessible by stairlift.
We also provide laundry and cleaning services to meet your needs so you can remain as independent as possible without the stresses of having to maintain your own home.
