Abbeyfield's ‘Breath of Fresh Air’ programme has been selected for the final in the ‘Best Dementia Training’ category at this years National Dementia Care Awards.
The Breath of Fresh Air programme was developed by April Dobson, Head of Dementia Innovation at Abbeyfield, and is centered around the positive health benefits that can be derived from getting outdoors for people with dementia, their carers and families.
April said: “…to reach the finals of this national competition is a great achievement and recognition for the fantastic work carried out by Abbeyfield staff. Through the Breath of Fresh Air programme we’ve been able to make a real difference to the quality of life of people living with dementia within our services”
The Breath of Fresh Air programme has been rolled out across Abbeyfield and through training workshops, designed by April and her team, we now have over 60 Breath of Fresh Air Ambassadors delivering the programme across Abbeyfield.
