The topping out ceremony has taken place at our brand new £10 million care and dementia home in Bingley. The new home consists of 49 one and two-bedroom apartments, a dementia wing with 30 rooms for the care of residents and a community hub.
The 84,000 sq ft development on Fernbank Drive, Bingley, will cover seven floors and feature communal facilities for residents such as a restaurant and lounge, hair and beauty salon, laundry, treatment rooms and a kiosk. There will also be a kitchen and extensive landscaping including secure 'sensory' gardens and roof terraces for residents and visitors.
Lord Patel of Bradford, currently University Director of Strategic Partnerships, was guest at the ceremony. He said: "I am honored and privileged to have been associated with the Topping Out ceremony for this amazing new development - a development that will provide high quality care for older people and those with dementia.
"The holistic way in which the scheme has been developed, encapsulating physical, mental wellbeing and community engagement will be central to its success. Key to the success of the project has been the partnership between all the many agencies that have come together to turn a vision into a reality."
"We are delighted that this much needed project is progressing and has reached this key milestone," said Richard Virr, our Director of Development. "This prestigious and specialist state of the art development will benefit older people and people living with dementia in the Bingley and surrounding areas and we look forward to working with Bardsley Construction Limited, the design team, as well as our funders and stakeholders, to complete the build in the next few months."
Gail Fleming, Healthcare Director at Clydesdale Bank & Yorkshire Bank, said: “Yorkshire Bank are very pleased to be involved in this Abbeyfield scheme in Bingley which will provide much needed quality care and housing for older people. Abbeyfield have a strong reputation across the country, particularly in the Yorkshire Dales for the quality of its core provision and services to their residents and for its commitment to overcoming loneliness. We look forward to supporting the Abbeyfield team as they move forward. Healthcare is a key sector for the Bank and our focus is on ensuring the availability of development finance and growth funding for operators.”
