Whether you are looking for the right choice of where to live in later life for yourself as an individual or a couple, or on behalf of a loved one, we’ve outlined the different types of services that Abbeyfield provides, so you can make an informed decision.
We want the Abbeyfield you choose to feel like home, which is why we encourage you to bring furniture, photographs and personal possessions. Friends and relatives are welcome to visit and spend time with you, and some services will accommodate your pets.
Independent Living
At an Abbeyfield Independent Living complex, you will have your own apartment or bungalow with one or two bedrooms, a fully-fitted kitchen and comfortable living space – with an on-call system for added peace of mind.
You will also have access to the full range of communal facilities, which will include opportunities to socialise with the other residents through activities and outings.
Sheltered Housing
With your own room and access to a range of communal facilities, you can choose to spend time on your own or in the company of others, enjoying the range of activities on offer, and with household services such as laundry and cleaning typically offered.
Eating together is an important part of the Abbeyfield experienced, and our Sheltered Housing residents receive delicious, nutritious, home-cooked food every day.
Care Homes
Each of our Residential Care Home residents receives one-to-one support from a qualified carer. The level of support and care you receive is personalised, with a full assessment of your needs helping us to choose the most appropriate care package for you.
Your own room will be within easy access of the communal areas, where a range of varied activities are available to provide physical and mental stimulation, and your meals and day-to-day household tasks are taken care of.
We also have specialist Dementia Friendly Care Homes and Nursing Homes, offering all the above and more advanced levels of care.
Did you know, we also offer…
Care at Home
Staff who can visit you in your own home and provide help with a variety of tasks, including personal care, medication, food preparation, housework, shopping, transport, and companionship. This is available in select locations only.
Trial stays
To make sure Abbeyfield is right for you, many of our houses and homes offer a trial stay period, to allow you to fully explore the facilities and what’s on offer.
Guest rooms
A number of our houses and homes have guest rooms to allow friends and family to stay with you for a few days.
Respite care
A one or two-week period when a carer provides support to meet a sudden change in someone’s needs, post-operative care or just a break for a regular caregiver. We provide a range of options and locations for respite care.
