Abbeyfield care home recognised for promoting good practice
Tamar House Residential Home, managed by the Abbeyfield Tamar Society, has been identified by Plymouth City Council as a leader by example over the last year, promoting good practice across the home.
Particularly exceptional is the way in which they have approached the issue of mental health, working to ensure that both staff and residents alike have a good level of wellbeing. The regular meetings, provisions for counselling and meals laid on for staff, in addition to fundraising initiatives to keep them occupied outside of work, has helped to maintain high levels of performance, with each member of staff meeting consistently high standards.
Tamar House residential care home, rated 'Good' by the Care Quality Commision, supports older people to make their own decisions about how they want to live their retirement years. Located on the outskirts of Plymouth and accommodates 28 residents in single rooms (24 en-suite) and is purpose built, with a lovely garden and great facilities, including a room for family or friends to stay overnight.
Tamar House programme a wide range of activities for residents, aiming for a diversity, based upon resident's interests, so they can spend their time engaged in something meaningful and enjoyable.
