Our inspirational resident Betty Bromage has taken on yet another daring challenge, abseiling 170 feet down one of Gloucestershire's tallest buildings.

"What I need now is a really good gin and tonic," she said, placing her feet firmly on the ground after making her way down the Eagle Tower in Cheltenham.

This is the third activity in a series of daredevil challenges that Betty has taken on to mark her 90th year, having walked on the wings of a plane and raced down the world’s fastest zip-line just a few months prior.

"While others at my age might prefer to take it easy, I just love the adrenaline rush of doing something extreme," says Betty, who is having the time of her life completing these challenges.

While Betty sees the fun side of it all, she is also completing the challenges for a very worthy cause, raising funds to enhance the garden at Abbeyfield House in Cheltenham, where she lives.

"I'm fundraising to build a brand new summer house for all of my fellow residents to enjoy," she says. "The other residents think I'm a bit mad but they're all incredibly supportive!"

Having now raised over £5,500 through her incredible challenges, she’s not far off her £8,000 target.

To help Betty reach her fundraising goal, you can donate via her JustGiving page.

So, what's up next for Betty? Next year, she is planning to do a fifth wing walk and a parachute jump.
