Huge congratulations to John, a resident at The Firs Complex who has been awarded ‘Member of the Year 2019’ by the gym he attends.

Seven years ago John suffered a stroke and was alone at home for 2 days before he received any help. After this he moved to The Firs Complex and his recovery began. When a gym opened at the top of the road a couple of years ago, John joined. He began both personal training sessions alongside working out independently not only works on his fitness but also to learn how to get up by unassisted if he has a fall.

Scheme Manager Tammy Davis said, "We have seen John grow in ability and confidence since he joined the gym, encouraging others to get involved with exercise and do what they can. It has had such a positive impact on his life it really does warm your heart."
