Staff, residents and friends all came together for a special Abbeyfield Week celebration with a fun filled morning at our St Albans head office.

Organised by an amazing team of people from the marketing department, our Abbeyfield Week party saw residents from four of our houses in the local area join us for singing, dancing and of course some delicious food and home-baked sweet treats.

“The day was such a success,” said Kirstan Sparshott, our Regional Director for the East. “Looking around the room, seeing the smiles and laughter made me feel immensely proud.”

The highlight of the day for many was the live music, provided by the fantastic Ian James, who is a friend of our house in Potters Bar and often performs for the residents there.

As he sang some of our favourite wartime, 60s and country and western hits, our residents were the life and soul of the party, getting members of our head office staff up for a dance around.

“It was lovely to have a little dance with Eric!” said Sue Riches, our Marketing Officer and compère for the event. “It was great to see staff and residents coming together and celebrating Abbeyfield. The festive music was great fun and got toes tapping, arms swaying and hands clapping.”

“We didn’t want to leave!” said Charlii Seaton, who works at our Pratt House care home “It was amazing seeing the residents dancing and singing to every song.”

It was a truly special occasion for everyone involved, and we’re delighted that so many residents enjoyed the day as much as we did.

What is Abbeyfield Week?

Celebrated each year in June, Abbeyfield Week provides an opportunity for our houses to open their doors and welcome in new members of the local community, showcasing how fulfilling our houses are as places to live.

This year’s theme was all about celebrating “your Abbeyfield your way,” with the help of neighbours, local communities, other local Abbeyfield homes, residents, friends and families and volunteers.
