Abbeyfield The Dales Fern House was judged as one of the country’s most outstanding developments after it won the Residential category at the 2018 Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) Awards Grand Final.

The team received the award at the start of November at a glittering ceremony held in London and hosted by ITV news anchor, Nina Hossain.

Shortlisted against 10 other residential developments from around the UK, the scheme was awarded the accolade with judges praising Fern House for the manner in which it had integrated into the surrounding area and community.

Philip Birkinshaw, Chief Executive of Abbeyfield the Dales, said: “We are absolutely delighted that Fern House has been recognised on a national level like this. It’s a beautiful building and it has been a pleasure to watch it evolve, flourish and provide a home within a community to our residents.”

When judges visited the scheme they saw first hand just how much the residents enjoyed living with Abbeyfield The Dales and that the care and companionship provided only served to enhance the success of the development.

Now having been operational for over a year, Fern House home to many older people as well as a thriving community hub supported by a number of dedicated volunteers.
