Too good to eat? That's our Gingerbread House entries.
As part of the festive celebrations this Christmas, we ran a special Christmas competition for National Gingerbread House Day where entries created an Abbeyfield home in gingerbread. After an overwhelming number of incredibly impressive houses, we have our winner.
Congratulations to our winner Abbeyfield House in Keynsham, part of the Abbeyfield Bristol & Keynsham Society, who blew away the judging panel with their incredible creation and truly encapsulated the spirit of Abbeyfield.

Abbeyfield House in Keynsham
"The lights are on in our gingerbread house and there’s always someone home! Our gingerbread house is colourful, friendly, sociable, warm and inviting, just like at our very own Abbeyfield House.
"We made sure to include our residents in our design by placing 12 gingerbread people at the front of the house.
"As always, they’re having a great time in the garden, catching up over a cup of tea."
The quality and scope of all the different designs was outstanding, from staff to residents living with dementia and supporters to children in the local community. We will be featuring all entries in a special Facebook album.
Special mentions also go the highly commended entries from the East London Abbeyfield houses and homes, the Abbeyfield London Polish Society, the Abbeyfield Wessex Society, Westall House and Digital Marketing Officer Suzanne Brammer, for their great efforts.
East London Abbeyfield houses and homes
We incorporated the importance of community within Abbeyfield and showcased London and their homes. Thank you to Palmer House, Donaldson Lodge, Hampstead, Gardener House, Stevenage, New Wanstead, Kenton House, Lee House and Victoria House for contributing.
Abbeyfield London Polish Society
The residents and staff of the Dom Popieluszko House, Abbeyfield (London Polish Society) have prepared their own gingerbread house, wanting to include all the warm thoughts that we associate with Abbeyfield, as well as our Christmas memories and dreams.
Abbeyfield Wessex Society
Each House, in the Abbeyfield Wessex family, has created a gingerbread house.

My house represents what Christmas means to me and my family.
The initiative was designed to showcase the warmth, companionship and togetherness embodied by Abbeyfield’s houses and homes, which were the values upon which the organization was founded 65 years ago. It is clear that the residents and staff view Abbeyfield as a special place to be, both at Christmas and all year round.
